
Portfolio Gallery, situated in St Marychurch, Torquay on the beautiful south Devon coast, is a picture gallery, framing workshop and coffee shop. Specialising in modern framed prints and canvases,complemented by contemporary gifts, stationery and greetings cards, the gallery has been open since 2000 and in that time has built up a strong local following all year round. In the summer months, Portfolio has become a popular destination for many of the area's visitors.

By that time I had already been working successfully with paints on silk and, following my formal studies, my interests expanded across various media and subject matter. Many of my inspirations stemfrom my detailed macro photography of the natural world. I am fascinated by the wealth of colours and textures nature provides, having lived near Dartmoor for many years. Movement, texture and colour are the main elements I look for in my landscape painting.

Situated on the English Riviera in Torquay, close to neighbouring towns of Paignton and Brixham. The Gallery has an ever changing exhibition of work by panoramic photographer Kevin Cowell. His localscenes of Devon and Cornwall are available to view. Periodically alongside Kevin's work throughout the year guest artists are invited to exhibit their work. I have lived in Torbay since 1997 and have always had a love for art in all of its forms and if I wanted an 'art fix' I would generally head for St Ives, a place synonymous with art. I was sure thathere in the Bay we probably had a similar abundance of creative talent but where was it, how to find it? What was it that places like St Ives had that we were lacking? What is stopping Torbay being for Devon what St Ives is for Cornwall?

Triton Galleries has been in existence for over forty years during which time we have grown and evolved with the times. We are one of the largest commercial galleries in the South-West offering thediscerning art lover a new experience in fine art alongside an unrivalled collection of original art and collectable limited editions from the UKs leading contemporary artists.

My work is mainly created using mono type and lino cut printing. Recently I have experimented with multilayered lino prints, however I also enjoy working with different media to create collages. Ioften work from literary sources including fiction, non fiction and poetry. Some of my work was inspired by the poetry of Elizabeth Bishop and was exhibited at 'New Designers' 2012, in London.

The essence of watercolour will be explored with emphasis on a more intuitive approach to painting. Through demonstration, theory and practice, you will develop confidence with wet in wet techniques,become familiar with the characteristics of watercolour and discover how to make your paintings 'sing'. You will learn to loosen up, experiment and play with textural techniques using watercolour and mixed media to create expressive results.

ASHTON CHADWICK is a Royal Academy Schools Post Graduate, former Head of Putney School of Art and Former Principal of Blackheath School of Art. He is particularly interested in the qualities of lightin landscape, which he expresses in a variety of ways, from cast shadows to reflections. The Activity of mark making and layering of colours or tones is often the primary dynamic of his work.

White Space Art was established in the heart of the market town of Totnes in 2003. The gallery exhibits an everchanging collection of work by emerging and established British artists, predominantlyfrom the southwest of England. The gallery holds several exhibitions throughout the year and exhibits at various art fairs. Located in the beautiful South Hams region of Devon, Totnes neighbours the artistically renowned Dartington Hall Estate and is a short journey from the A38 and the M5.
