About the Business
Wimbledon Art Studios is situated off Garratt Lane between Earlsfield and Tooting Stations, just behind Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium. The art studios are one of the largest, single site art studio complexes in the UK, comprising of two separate buildings known as the Red Studios and Blue Studios. The art studios have helped to bring regeneration to an otherwise neglected part of the borough of Wandsworth, SW London. Art Studios have traditionally been established in rundown buildings awaiting either demolition or redevelopment with landlords exploiting this temporary opportunity to offer studio space for a few months or in luckier cases, a year or so.
Established in 1993 within a working paper warehouse the Red Studios opened with 6 artists renting art space alongside the paper business. Now, the original warehouse consists of over 173 studio spaces spanning 3 floors.
