In this section you will be able to learn a little bit about the gallery and the people behind it. In 2009 as a family we bought the gallery and since then we have been going from strength tostrength. We originally focused on maritime and Isle of Wight landscape scenes by predominatly Isle of Wight artists. Although, we do still work mostly with Island based artists our subject matter has widended somewhat.

Richard Martin Gallery was established on Stoke Road in Gosport on England's south coast in 1980, just a few hundred metres from historic Portsmouth Harbour. The gallery specialises in original 18th,19th and 20th century watercolours, etchings, engravings, maps and books - mostly on maritime subjects. Although the gallery was founded by Richard and his wife Elaine, they have subsequently welcomed two of their sons into this thriving family business.

When Artists Harbour first set up in 2004 the majority of our business was as an art gallery and we were situated in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (see watercolour sketch, left, by Julian Bond). Butsince then our business growth has been in publishing and services to artists, so we have moved to new premises better suited to these tasks - they do not have the significant distractions involved in running a retail gallery space.
I developed a love of painting at school and achieved A Level at Portsmouth Sixth Form College. I continued to paint for a short while but career and children intervened and I stopped painting untilvery recently. All of the paintings exhibited have been painted in recent months and depict locations that I love or that have a special place in my life.
